Agency: Re:Quest New York
Tell us about your background and how were you discovered (to be a model). For starters i was born in Turkey. Lived there until the age of eight. Then, my father decided to move me, my sister and mother to the States for a new life. I've lived in Long Island, New York, ever since. So, I was discovered on Facebook by a photographer named Brent Chua. Now, one of my closest friends. Brent messaged me asking if i was interested in modelling. At first, I was skeptical and confused, "Like who is this stranger?" but after chatting with him and learning more about his career, achievements, and history in the field of modelling, I decided to give it a try and I have been grateful ever since.
What are you up to these days besides modelling? Besides modelling, I attend school at Farmingdale State College. I'm currently studying Pediatric Physiology. Well, as a person that sees himself as a tall 10-year-old, I also love kids. I enjoy learning about how their brain works and learning about why they make the decisions they make. It is very intriguing to me.
Your hobbies? I have a ton of hobbies. Outside of the tradition of hanging out with friends and playing soccer I do other things. For starters, I am a producer (in the works) :). I first started two years ago with a music program,e my friend introduced me to. I am still learning. I'll be the first to admit that some of my beats suck, but over the years I've created some tunes that have a nice groove to them. My main style is trap or hip hop beats, you can check out my my music at Soundcloud if you're curious, just search bleda. One of my other hobbies is flying drones. My father got me into drones and I'm absolutely in love with them. I've gotten really good at controlling them. The drone I own has a Go Pro attached to it so I'm able to get footage from 600 feet in the air. It's always amazing seeing things from a bird's-eye view.
What do you enjoy the most about being a model? There's alot i enjoy. But I always enjoy the preparation before a shoot. For example, talking to the photographer before hand to see what he/she wants the scene to look like. Or talking to the stylist about the best way we can make the clothes stand out. The best way to describe the feeling is like an excited kid on New Year's Eve. I love the creative atmosphere that is created with people that are passionate about what they do. I believe that it's this aura of positive and creative vibes that brings out the best in me.
What made you want to give modelling a try? Well, it was mainly the curiosity. I feel like everyone at one point in their lives wants to be a model and experience the world of a model but majority of people don't pursue it. So, when the opportunity presented itself, I wanted to definitely give it a shot to see the world myself. And ultimately spread my name and meet more people.
What is the downside of modelling? The main downside for me is watching what I eat. Growing up in a Turkish family, all you do is eat delicious, fatty foods. So having to say no to my mom’s amazing cooking has been hard. Also I love Big Macs... a lot. It’s been my favorite meal since I was 10 so saying no to the urge of buying one has also been a challenge. But ultimately it’s to keep me in good health so I can’t complain too much.
What would you be doing if weren't modelling? I think if I wasn't modelling, I would definitely be eating way more Big Macs :). That's for sure. But on a more serious note I think instead of modelling, I would keep going to school but also be doing other things that can help me be more creative like making more music and painting. Anything that could get my creative juices flowing.
Your best modelling experience thus far? My best experience with modelling so far was definitely being apart of New York Fashion Week in 2016. I modelled for Kenneth Ning's winter fashion line. First, I'll like to say that I loved working with Kenneth; he is super creative individual that makes some of the best clothes I've seen. During the fashion show itself, I've had the pleasure to meet other models and got to learn about them and how they got started. Overall, it was one of the best experiences I've had.
TV junkie or movie addict? The only serious I watch on television is The Walking Dead. The show just keeps getting better and better. I'm really into YouTube channels as well. Vsauce is my favorite channel. Very cool channel that just tries to answer hard questions like "How to count past infinity" and "Did the past really happen?" Just strange thought-provoking questions. I highly recommend it.
Your idol? My idol is Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He is the founder of modern day Turkey and creator of the Turkish language. In my eyes, he is the most intelligent leader that the human race has come across.
Tell us about your personality? How do you describe your character? How do I describe my character? That's a great question. Well, I'm very open minded. I love listening to people's opinions about any topic, and I love putting in my views. I'm a firm believer that you can learn something from everyone you meet. I'm also very social. My friends and family say that I'm the funniest person in the world. I don't think I'm the funniest in the world. I'm funny but definitely not Jim Carrey funny. Overall, I always have a smile on my face, and I don't stop until the job is done. Never half ass anything.
What's your style? I tend to dress more urban. Never really with a suit and tie. I love long soccer jerseys, so odds are if you see me, I will be wearing one. Generally, I dress more casual. My favourite brand for a while has been OWSLA. In my eyes, they have the dopest clothes. Very alternative but casual. Also very much into shoes. Proud owners of a pair of Adidas Yeezys. I like to keep up with trends and incorporate them into my outfits.
What are the top songs are on your current music playlist? This is probably the hardest question so far. Let me see... I pretty much listen to a bit of everything but this my top five right now (not in specific order): Blood by Getter & Adair featuring Georgia Ku, R.I.C.O remix by Vincent, Low Life by Future & The Weeknd, Persian Wine by A$AP Ferg, and Burn Like You by Robyn.
Any guilty pleasures? My guilty pleasure is to ask people their stance on politics and if they believe in God. People always say don't bring up politics and religion with people but i just love hearing what people think. And I don't ask to bash on them or to tell them they are wrong, i just like to hear what people are thinking about when it comes own to these subjects. Odds are you will change my perception on the topics.
You're a Snapchat/ Instagram/ Twitter person or none of the above? I'm on all social media. I do use snapchat; not when I'm out and getting "turnt", but i generally I snap my dog or when my friends are saying something stupid. I'm on instagram, and I have no shame in liking a picture of yours from 78 weeks ago. If its cute I'll double tap. And I'm on Twitter. Generally, just tweeting at Oprah to see if she will respond... so far she's been giving me the silent treatment. But you can contact me @bledabc :)
