Bottega Veneta’s Art of Collaboration project is making a return for its spring-summer 2017 advertising campaign by American photographer Todd Hido. This season marks Bottega Veneta’s 50th anniversary as well as the 15th year of Tomas Maier as creative director of the brand. To mark this occasion a special collection of bags will be launched which will see a relaunch of iconic bags from their archive. One special bag, the iconic intrecciato clutch worn by Lauren Hutton in the 1980’s movie American Gigolo will be making a comeback. The actress recently carried the bag while on the runway during the Bottega Veneta’s special fashion show at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. This campaign was shot in New York at the Modulightor Building which is renowned for its unique façade, hence the building is nicknamed the Building of Light. The iconic building, designed by Paul Rudolph, is a natural choice for creative director Tomas Maier and goes hand in hand with his passion for modernist art and architecture. The Art of Collaboration is an ongoing project initiated by Tomas Maier when he joined Bottega Veneta in 2001 with world-renowned visual artists collaborating on the campaign for each season. Todd Hido is a renowned cotemporary artist and photographer and much of his work involves photography of homes in suburban America. His artisit direction complements the core style of Bottega Veneta.
