When it comes to your wrist game, well, you’re still figuring it out between juggling the bracelet stacks and lucky charms. Take your time as you’re planning to add a wristwatch into the mix – a real wristwatch. After all, it’s the first upmarket wristwatch you’re buying to mark the coming of age or as your parents kindly put it: putting that degree into good use. In other words, it’s the one you’d be wearing-slash-hoarding in the long term. A tip: Play it safe. (Yes, you didn’t read it wrong.) At this stage, your first bonus cheque shouldn’t be spent on indulgence that you don’t understand – sort of like ordering a pricey bottle of Bordeaux but your amateur palate can’t work out the difference when compared to the supermarket varieties. Your best move ought to be a smart one. This is where the Panthère de Cartier is vying for every dollar in your budget. It ticks all the right boxes here: 1) It’s a Cartier and your social circle’s heard of it, 2) it possess that timeless clout that you’re looking for, and 3) it’s at a retail price that won’t put the fear of god in you. The seemingly robust exterior is equal parts sleek and sensual. And while it flaunts a bracelet construction – available in a non-in-your-face stainless steel to a showboater’s yellow gold – its feel in the flesh is more sinuous than stiff, which bodes well for the mileage you’re hoping to put into this. What you probably don’t know about the Panthère de Cartier – and we don’t fault you for lacking in geek-like trivia – is that this was first launched in 1983, the same year Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video premiered and Minolta invented the first selfie stick. The good news is that this reboot doesn’t veer much from the original – it still packs a battery-powered base in both the small and medium sized options – which means even your parents might have owned or thought about owning one back then. You don’t need a massive wardrobe overhaul to figure out how to integrate this into your style game. The Panthère de Cartier goes with literally everything you can dig up; whether it’s a vintage band tee, a tweed dress, or even a tulle gown. Oh, and these will level-up your Instagram snaps too. But you already know that.
