Don’t assume golf is a chill sport where you sip cocktails as you sit on the buggy to catch your next hole - it isn’t. As players of an outdoor sport, golfers face a battering of the elements that aren’t easily adapted to. And with golf’s fourth and final major of the 2019 season — the British Open — taking place in Northern Ireland, athletes will be hit with brutal weather conditions in a challenging 18-hole course filled with rolling sand dunes, cool temperatures and bursts of rain. So to combat this, Nike is teaming up with Stone Island to bring their ‘A’ game to us with the launch of their new golf capsule collection. Featuring two pieces — a technical jacket and a crew neck shirt — it’s the perfect hybrid of performance and weather-resistance outerwear a pro or casual golfer can ask for. Made from a military cotton satin outer face, the pieces are bonded to a breathable, water-resistant membrane. Moreover, the fibers are adaptive, helping to lock in heat that sustain a steady temperature throughout the game. That way, you won’t be shivering your way across the golf course no matter the incoming temperature. The collection is available now at Stone Island’s boutiques, online platform, and NikeLab stores.
