Getting Houston Rockets point guard Russell Westbrook to design a capsule collection is a smart move though many will tell you it is about time he did so. After all, he is one of the most progressive dressers in the game who has never shied away from even adapting paint splattered denim or a neon yellow construction bib into his everyday look. But his everyday look isn’t everyone else’s. Now, Westbrook is taming it down for the layman like us via this collab with Acne Studios – he was the star of its spring 2019 campaign. The 31-year-old has brought forth a 10-piece denim collection for men, the staple material that gave creative director Jonny Johansson his claim to fame. How is this any different from the dozens you’ve bought through the years and probably still are wearing? Westbrook paid particular attention to the late ‘80s and early ‘90s silhouettes and washes here, giving them an old school vibe that already looks worn in for its new owner. There is also a strong sportswear element here such as a denim version of a half-zip jacket-cum-parka as well as an on-trend utility vest that today’s biggest pop stars will be at home with. And if you were wondering, yes, the collection comes in normal baller sizes too.
