HE'S BACK, BACK AGAIN: Alber Elbaz's AZfashion

Four years ago, Alber Elbaz announced his departure from Lanvin having spent 14 glorious years creating womenswear for the modern woman. Whilst Lanvin never got back on its feet since, Elbaz took a sabbatical of sorts that saw him flirt with a full-time return to fashion with the latest being a capsule collection with Tod’s as well as capsule collections with Converse and LeSportsac. Now, the 58-year-old is ready for his close-up since announcing his comeback via a label to call his own. Named AZfashion (which cleverly stands for AlberelbaZfashion), the Moroccan-born designer has the backing of parent company Richemont. While there is no word on the direction and timeline of his fashion label, Elbaz said that he is happy to “establish my ‘dream factory’, which will focus on developing solutions for women of our times.”
