How did Moncler convince fashion maverick Rick Owens to give collaborating a shot? Customise a tour bus as a sweetener so he can take that long awaited road trip to see Michael Heizer’s remarkable earth-art City project in the Nevada desert. In simple terms, Moncler agreed. This tour bus in question was decked out in Owens’ requirements and if you are familiar with his interior design portfolio, it resembles some of the brutalist inspirations he has tapped on – a clean space that resembles a mix between the insides of a UFO and a sound recording studio. Padded walls and sheets are rendered in a grey palette and a clothing rack containing down jacket items that Moncler is known for. Remarkably this automobile collab – which is available for order – also includes those wearables that Moncler has designed with Owens and his wife Michèle Lamy for that eventful road trip. But surely, the tour bus is a must-have. After all, who doesn’t need one in 2020?
