If flexing real gold along with designer minks and Cuban links doesn’t move you easily, this Swiss watchmaker’s cooked up something special that just might. Hublot's lab has created 24K gold crystals that even Bruno Mars would take off his shades to admire. These gold flakes that resemble dried leaves are harder to create than it looks. Pure gold is brought to a melting point and steam carrying so-called atoms of gold are then set in a crystalline form after coming into contact with a cold surface. What Hublot’s craftsmen have done is to carefully sort out these gold crystals – of which only 20 per cent are kept – and lay them delicately onto the dial using over 20 layers of transparent lacquer. We guess that’s what 24K Magic means.
