Have you ever thought: “Hey, I could do with a little 1996 right now?” Yes, times are bad and staying optimistic is all we can do which means looking at old beach vacation photos circa 2019 and getting reacquainted on the wave of ‘90s fashion trends that even those who grew up in that period tried to forget. One designer in particular did things right in those days, to an extent that his wares continue to look in sync with today’s trends. Japanese fashion OG Yohji Yamamoto has re-released his spring-summer 1996 collection via his Replica line, reproducing four of his jackets and trousers as well as three shirts from that season's collection. They are faithful copies of those celebratory pieces featuring elaborate prints of peonies and phoenix on blacks and blues. It's not a chipper option reflective of the season but that's also the point. The collection drops on May 30.
