We must admit that we’ve all been in the all-dressed-up-nowhere-to-go loop for a tad too long. To an extent that even we don’t even know what’s new in fashion anymore as face masks are trending harder than even summer swimwear and sneaker drops. Sigh. But we’re going to do you a solid for once and tell you that this new range of handmade calfskin leather carriers by Louis Vuitton – named LV Pont 9 – should be the first item on your shopping list the moment your respective city’s lockdown is over. It’s Louis Vuitton’s first major style offering since retail is up and running and even A-listers are not holding back on this flex (check your Instagram feed). For starters, the shoulder bag named after the iconic Parisian stone bridge is made to serve current times and beyond – characterised by its smooth leather, staple shape, accessible flap, and restrained hardware design. This metal hardware in question – a circle around the familiar overlapping LV initials – taps on a 1930s archival design that is perhaps perfect in this scenario as a metaphor for the bag’s endurance and unwavering elegance. And most importantly, there’s enough room for all of your going-out essentials in 2020 such as a face mask, hand sanitiser, wipes, and a Nintendo Switch loaded with Animal Crossing. You know, the essentials.
