If you’re a firm believer believe that sex sells, then having Marilyn Monroe – the original sex symbol and poster girl for making the most out of a wardrobe malfunction – as a central figure of your wares ought to do your brand no harm in the sales department. BAPE liked the idea enough to collaborate with the pop culture icon’s estate to rework selected images of hers to be featured on a series of T-shirts which is also an item of clothing that Monroe wasn’t pictured in too often. But hey, this is 2020 which also means that you’ve probably seen stranger things than Monroe’s famous portraits being collaged and Photoshopped with BAPE’s signature Ape Head graphic and camo (for kicks, try Googling images of a tattooed Monroe with guns). The collection launches on August 29.
