2020 is all about hitting all the right feels. And chances are, you can count Coldplay to be delivering in this department with several of their hit songs being emotional gut punches. So, when its Scottish-born bassist Guy Berryman decided that he would try his luck in fashion too, you can bank on the fact that he wants you to feel something with the clothes he designs. Enter Applied Art Forms – also known as A/A/F – which is his debut fashion label that just started pre-orders in October. Tapping on his fascination with utilitarian design and workwear, A/A/F looks to apply his trained engineering and architecture eye to staples. Take for example the AM2-1 military parka made of Ventile that can be deconstructed into several other clothing options depending on your purpose of wear as it features several detachable portions such as a hood, collar, and life vest. Even a basic relaxed cut tee such as the LM1-1 has been precisely calculated and features 250 grams of cotton jersey and is said to be resistant to shrinkage after wash. Berryman has spent several years perfecting this line so don’t think this was just a quarantine project he did on a whim.
