Ballers recognise baller fits. And in the context of Louis Vuitton, the fashion house ranks as a foundational flex fit for those tunnel walks in the NBA, the unofficial fashion runway where top players show off their off-duty looks before match day and press cons. Toiletry pouches and backpacks with the famed Louis Vuitton monogram have been an arrival staple of these A-list athletes for the longest time and now the fashion house is making the association with the league official. As part of a three-year partnership, Louis Vuitton will roll out merch with the NBA including housing the coveted Larry O’Brien trophy in a bespoke monogram travel trunk. This capsule collection won’t just feature the LV monogram in its full glory, there are also clever reworks of the iconic NBA logo into a houndstooth-like pattern and an LV symbol fashioned after chalk drawings of a tactic play board. Several other hints of the game appear too such as basketball hoop netting as a side panel of a Keepall bag and strong graphic lines of the ball tapped as a clothing pattern. We guess it’s also time to give new meaning to MVP such as the Most Vuitton Player. The collection is available on November 20.
