When creating a fine wristwatch it is easy to fall into trappings of being different, which means more often than not, watchmakers include functions that NO ONE needs in the real world. (We’re looking at you, multi-axis tourbillon.) Then, we’ve got the Polaris Mariner Memovox which is a diver’s watch equipped with an alarm function that has been in its household for the last 55 years (Jaeger-LeCoultre has possessed the tech for far longer). By simply winding the inner disc to set the desired time (indicated by the smaller arrow), the wristwatch will trigger memories of school bells all over again which means you’re likely to awake from slumber or be reminded that you’re late for something. As for why this is relevant in a diver’s watch for 2021, said alarm will still nag at you with full clarity even if you’re taking in a lap in the pool, soaking in the bath, or scuba diving in the Maldives.
