Simone Rocha has been somewhat of a little secret that the fashion set has kept to itself for a good part of a decade. The 34-year-old Dublin-born designer, whose background includes an uncommon mix of Ireland and Hong Kong, has won critical acclaim with some of the most gorgeous garments that real-life Bridgertons are only all too happy to acquire. Her vision of dreamy clothing has relayed countless untold stories and her label has also become a bastion for feminism and the uniform for strong independent women. The mood boards she has put together for some of her recent collections are just as enthralling, ranging from baptism to the Qingming festival to tributes to Fellini and the mountains (for her Moncler collabs). Now, her namesake label is about to get more mainstream attention as H&M is the next in line to tap onto her genius for a designer collaboration that will also include menswear and kidswear. The best part is, the designer has dived into the last decade of her work as the foundation for this collab, so expect remixes of some of her greatest hits even. "To be honest, it was really emotional going through all the pieces — it was a wonderful chance to reflect on seasons I was especially proud of, and to revisit collections that felt like milestones, and little gems of ideas that we maybe didn't push as far as we wanted to the first-time round. The archive is so important to the way I work as a designer anyway. We are not a brand that abandons ideas each season — we often look back on past propositions or continue to evolve a silhouette, or shape," says Rocha. The collection launches on March 11.
