Lucas Ossendrijver for Theory
1/1

Lucas Ossendrijver spent 14 wonderful years putting his spin on Lanvin’s menswear after working for Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme. He did so without ego and pretence… and the need for large logo placements. Ossendrijver is a rare breed of a fashion designer who let his city life-friendly apparels do the talking and so he did until his departure in 2018 sans any dramatic send-off for his longtime service. (Insiders will tell you that 14 years is a rare feat in this day and age of revolving doors.) During his time at Lanvin, his partnership with the late Alber Elbaz was perhaps downplayed. Rather than work entirely in separate creative spaces, both designers sought the other’s opinions when necessary, which is perhaps rarer than you might think in today’s ultra-competitive environment. Now, the 51-year-old Dutch designer is taking his experience to Theory on a series of capsule collections slated for 2022, which is also his maiden venture in working on womenswear. Having to battle with the challenges of a new normal, Ossendrijver has his work cut out for him. But rest assured, ths is where the experience kicks in.
