If someone were to ask about the best fashion that is born and bred in the good ol’ capital of New York, Public School would rank high on that list of answers. The fashion stylings of designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have been long admired for its strong take on streetwear and adapting it to the demands of urbanites with a cushy day job. Sure, in recent years Public School has become one of those brands that have slipped into the if you know, you know category but there’s still an air of coolness pegged to the name. Both designers might have partially moved on to other projects – Osbourne started his own label AnOnlyChild and Chow is helming Tom Brady’s namesake fashion label – expect them to relocate to Public School every now and then for something exciting. The brand’s mission has been updated by the designers in recent years: it has vowed to use only sustainable materials, deadstock or reclaimed fabrics. This ideal fits into Montblanc’s ethos too. On a new line of collaborative bags, Montblanc has embellished this eco-friendly capsule of nine-to-fiver’s faves with Public School’s effortless take on coolness. The five-piece collection was designed entirely in lockdown and over video calls but good taste prevails regardless of technical difficulties. Public School reworked items for Montblanc like the duffle, belt bag, and messenger bag – designs that urbanites don’t have to wait around for a special occasion to tap on. The bags utilise regenerated nylon, known as Econyl, and feature a yellow lining that we have to admit looks like an X-Men outfit detailing. Even the steel used is recyclable as well as the polyester straps. For the small leather goods, its leftover leather built has undergone a CO2 neutral tanning process. Nothing is left to chance and we wouldn't have it any other way. The collection is available now in North America as well as on Mr Porter.
