Don’t be mistaken, footballer Paul Pogba’s expression in these promo pics aren’t akin to a food lover finding out the main course is a plate of cleats. The World Cup-winning player, who plies his trade for Manchester United, had a hand in introducing what has been touted as the first vegan football cleats – and believe it or not, you don’t have to be a vegan to sport a rakish pair. Designed by Stella McCartney under the Adidas label – the duo vibed during a video call last May during the lockdown – she worked her magic on a pair of Predator Freak cleats that are as flashy as Pogba’s signature tresses. A mix of leopard prints in shades of mother earth and orange rubber spikes on the Primeknit upper, there is even an ombré rainbow metallic heel tab and matching plates on the underside to go for broke on the theatrics. As for whether these meet the professional requirements of a modern day footballer, let’s just say Pogba’s fancy footwork is going to look a lot fancier.
