It was unfortunately postponed in November due to the surging Covid-19 cases in the Russian capital but Prada Mode has finally been realised. The sixth instalment of the Italian fashion house’s version of a travelling social club aims to house music, dining, and art in a single location. For this iteration in Moscow, Prada tapped on art provocateur and long-time supporter of Miuccia, Damien Hirst, as the star attraction. The artist had set up his now-iconic medicine cabinet-filled Pharmacy installation at a 121-year-old four-storey private mansion with a pharmaceutical theme running throughout, which is a timely and ironic scene to witness in a country still coming to terms with high daily infection rates and rising death tolls. That said, this two-day project was a rare opportunity for those in Moscow to witness Hirst’s genius amidst troubling times. He had transformed the Fyodor Schechtel-deigned real estate into another one of his Pharmacy bar and restaurant which was first birthed in Notting Hill, London, in 1998. For two days in early December, guests were also invited to partake in discourses at the premises, namely on topics such as recycling fashion trends, art collecting, sustainability, and modern architecture. The Pharmacy installation is open for public viewing until December 11.
