It goes without saying that leather goods are the bread and butter of the Chanel experience. And if you’re part of the lucky few who have been chosen by the Parisian fashion house to hawk one of its latest bag designs on billboard visuals the world over, that’s a good sign as any that you’ve got the bankable appeal to rake in the millions (quite literally). Margaret Qualley, Lily-Rose Depp, and Gossip Girl’s Whitney Peak are the three muses that Chanel has entrusted with this monumental task to raise the cache of its new Chanel 22 handbag, a large quilted shoulder bag with all the credentials of an easy-carry. Yes, it has a Chanel signage which is all the style stamp of approval one needs but when Virginie Viard greenlit this design for the spring-summer 2022 runway, it was for the reason of providing today’s trendsetters with another chic leather option of a going-out carrier sans the overtly hard structure and limited storage space. It’s that feeling of carrying a satchel with the luxe of quilted leather and the casual elegance of a tote bag. The campaign, lensed by Inez and Vinoodh, showcases a variety of vibes and settings that the Chanel 22 can exist in: Qualley with her outdoorsy hipster appeal (think Coachella chic), Peak with her cosmopolitan tomboy style (think everyday KStew), and Depp with her round-the-clock glam (think early days Paris Hilton). In other words, this is that 24/7 Chanel bag you might’ve been looking for.
