With shoeys appearing to be all the rage these days – this is where you drink an alcoholic beverage from one of yours or others’ shoe for friendly or celebratory purposes – Balenciaga is launching a porcelain replica of a well-worn Runner sneaker with a slim chance that it might be used for such a purpose. Made in Switzerland, this shoe size 42 sculpture follows in the footsteps of the silver brass Track.2 sneaker sculpture it launched in 2020, with all the intricate details present that one might actually mistake this for the real deal from a distance. Yes, even the sole-like base is deliberately dirtied like it has had some mileage on them. It’s light enough to carry this around too – maybe even to the bar – as it weighs only 1.4 kilos. Balenciaga will only be making 20 units and they are each priced at just over US$7,600.
