Whoever shades Disney merch in adulthood probably has had a bad experience as a kid. Just sayin’. Matthew M. Williams for one isn’t going to sit here and debate why Givenchy needs a Disney collab right this minute except that he loves Disney, never had a bad time in Disneyland, and believes everyone can do with some cheer today. End of story. But this renewed collab isn’t as random as they come for the fashion house. Think back to 2013 when Givenchy, under the creative guidance of Riccardo Tisci, remixed an imagery of Bambi as part of a print on several items in the fall 2013 collection – and those sold like hot cakes. Now the relationship is returning for an extended run as the house has launched a line of tees and hoodies that feature silhouettes of popular Disney characters, namely the leads of 101 Dalmatians, Lucky Rabbit Oswald, Frozen, and of course, Bambi. Those with a decent childhood will geddit.
