Cruella might have had the wardrobe backing of Louis Vuitton but we now know who is looking out for those black-and-white pooches under the Disney umbrella. Givenchy has announced a capsule collection featuring the iconic imageries of the 101 Dalmatians cartoon that first hit our screens in 1961. This is the second chapter of a long-term collab between the Parisian fashion house and Disney that designer Matthew M. Williams helped to reboot in May. It makes sense that these beloved dogs have been handpicked to kickstart this collab proper – these animals spot a coat that is in the colourways synonymous with the house and Williams’ design vocab. Givenchy didn’t just use any 101 Dalmatians imagery either; it has kept faith with the same drawings that were in the original version albeit for the dog’s collars which now feature a modern day Givenchy padlock hardware. Williams has also taken the chance to make full use of the dog’s iconic spotted coat for other accessories in the collection such as the print on its Moon Cut Out and Cut Out bags. And of course, there’s even a dog leash in the mix too.
