Sneakerheads probably already know Nike’s and Ye’s relationship timeline by heart. From the moment they created magic together to that moment it soured so badly that Ye went on to create a hype sneaker sub-label empire with the former’s sworn enemy shortly after. Many have spent good money trying to acquire the unreleased-then-released Air Yeezys, especially the Air Yeezy II Red Octobers which are retailing for several thousands of dollars on the secondary market. But Christie’s has even something rarer on its hands after seeing an Air Yeezy 1 prototype selling for US$1.8 million merely 18 months ago. The newly listed auction item is called the Air Jordan VI Donda which many might not even believe is in existence until now. This sneaker was created in 2008 by Nike as a tribute to Ye’s mother, Donda, who passed away just the year before. They were never released to the public with only four to six pairs said to have been made, presented only to family and friends. This US size 12 prototype up for sale, which are covered in laser-cut rose motifs on the toe box and upper, takes inspiration from Ye’s song Roses with some of the lyrics featured on the sock liner. Bids are currently being accepted by Christie’s and the asking price is said to be in the US$3.5 million bracket which is a whole lot of sneakers if you ask us. But if you're looking for your Red October type of kicks this October, this might be your best bet.
