The iconic British millinery master’s haute hats have cameoed at every important event on the high society event calendar with even royal fams around the world on his speed dial. Now, the 65-year-old is applying his creativity beyond the crowns of the usual pop culture icons and collections of high-end fashion houses. G-Star Raw has tapped his expertise for a five-piece Haute Denim capsule collection of headwear crafted from denim, the utilitarian fabric that Jones doesn’t usually use in his delicate pieces. According to Jones, the premise is simple: “I took denim out of its comfort zone and made it what it wasn’t.” The British milliner hand-sketched the designs, giving them an haute couture edge that doesn’t usually involve denim (or in this case, responsible denim). Expect a winged cap, a cloche-cape, a bunched-up jean-like headband, and even an oversized sunhat-dress. However, only two unisex hat designs will be available for purchase – a layered bucket hat and a cap that are arguably easier to pull off if you aren’t Billy Porter or Lady Gaga.
