Tennis GOAT Serena Williams has been busy in her post-sporting career. You can just tell from her massive earnings in 2022 (she was the second highest paid female athlete of the year) and she barely played a bunch of matches before announcing her evolution away from the sport. Well, message received as the 41-year-old is giving us the best sign yet that she isn’t doing a Tom Brady-style 180-degree turn on the news as her latest Nike sneaker is slipping into the most TGIF material you can think of: denim. Having given the casual sneakerhead some Air Force 1 remixes in recent years, her design team has now clad the chosen material on the Air More Uptempo silhouette, a sneaker that isn’t subtle about its branding. Why denim? Let’s not forget that moment in 2004 when Williams wore a denim skirt to play the U.S. Open (no, she didn’t win but her look did). This Air More Uptempo would even pop in the club with its contrast neon stitching present on the entire upper. However, this isn’t the first time that denim has appeared on this sneaker model with a lighter denim wash being launched a few years ago. That said, this will be the first sneaker release since Williams confirmed her retirement from the sport. And we’re still waiting on a pair that looks as bling as the custom ones she wore to last year’s U.S. Open. We’ll wait.
