Bet you didn’t know that the backgammon game is at least 5,000 years old. Or that the Catholic church once banned it just because. The purpose of the game is simple: get your 15 checkers off a board that features 24 alternating coloured triangles. (Don’t worry, we’re not going to explain the full set of rules here but trust us that it’s not as tough to learn as it looks.) While you might think that backgammon isn’t as cool as chess that got its Queen’s Gambit PR bump not too long ago, Dior is looking past the obvious move of launching a chess set with its ambassadress Anya Taylor-Joy and is instead giving those with some spare change a Dior-approved backgammon set. Blessed in powder pink and Dior grey, this backgammon set is outfitted in luscious leather that features the recognisable Dior Oblique pattern debossed on the material. Even the tumblers to roll the dice in are wrapped in matching leather. In addition, the two sets of checkers also celebrate one of Monsieur Dior’s fave symbols, with the star motif planted on them. And even if you aren’t bringing this everywhere with you like a Nintendo Switch, we can vouch that it makes a decent prop on your coffee table too.
