Even if your only knowledge drop about Super Mario is limited to that of a video game character who speaks with a weird accent and occasionally loves go-karting, you might probably recognise his fit of a cap, overalls, and a pair of work boots that hints at his occupation as a plumber and a pop culture icon. Now, Red Wing has tapped on its expertise to turn his beloved leather boots into a reality, a perfectly timed moment since MSCHF’s cartoon-esque Big Red Boots broke the internet just a few weeks ago. It’s a shame that Red Wing’s Super Mario Boots aren’t for sale and is merely a reminder of the brand’s prowess to be able to create just anything and everything. These boots, which were made to celebrate Mario Day on March 10, were carefully recreated from the video game character’s supposed human-like dimensions and features all of the nuances that its maker deems his footwear ought to possess. This mean full Red Wing leather with a reinforced toe box and rounded heel. Red Wing also has a surprise when forging the heel pad as it states that it is made from “state-of-the-art mushroom-infused materials” as a nod to the video game character’s hallucinatory state after consuming a magic mushroom. And you thought getting your hands on a pair of Big Red Boots was a tough task; these are simply impossible.
