Two-time Oscar winner and underrated circular fashion queen Cate Blanchett kept the fashion hits coming. Her appearance at this Academy Awards also meant her keeping to the promise of only rewearing previous fits or supporting clothes with a sustainable ethos – certainly not the kind of Hollywood style policy that has been de rigueur for decades. She chose an asymmetrical velvet draped top from the Louis Vuitton archives, one that the Parisian fashion house didn’t reveal the collection or designer it belonged to. Most importantly, it can even be considered as new as it had “never-been-seen” or worn in public. The blue top flaunted padded shoulders, a peak style in the ’80s. Louis Vuitton also fashioned the skirt from scratch to match the top, cutting it from sustainable black silk fabric to keep in-line with Blanchett’s preference. She even took this look to the after-parties while many opted to change into new fits. And if you know any better, don’t bet against Blanchett that she won’t attempt to pull off the same look thrice.
