In case you’re not up to speed on what Paris Hilton is doing these days, the 42-year-old recently became a new mom to one Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum. (Yes, we’re alluding to an actual human being and not her litter of fur babies.) She has also found time to pen a memoir – so you can now add author to the list of roles she currently helms, namely mother, wife, entrepreneur, CEO, friend, singer, DJ, and sister, just to name a few (at least according to her Instagram post). Hilton, who is currently on a whirlwind tour to promote said tome, is flexing her chops in maximising every pap snap available to market her memoir, telling her side of the story even via a still photo. Unlike other celebs who prefer to clutch onto a provocative book title to make a point (that they read too), Hilton has taken things up a notch by flaunting non-designer bags with messages that read like tweets. It started with a simple “Mama” name printed on a nondescript canvas tote bag with a pink striped panel a few days ago. Then recently, she stepped out after a TV taping with a leather tote bag that was embossed with text on both sides, in a style that recall Marc Jacobs’ popular Tote Bag (incidentally Hilton is also the current face of his bags). One side read “The people who hurt you don’t get the last word,” while the other read “You get to tell the story of you, and your story has more power than you can imagine.” Now, these aren’t just randomised pearls of wisdom made fashionable; they are also excerpts from her book. Consider this a free lesson on self-promotion from an OG influencer.
