According to Clot founder and creative director Edison Chen, 2023 is going to be an awesome year for his streetwear label. It is his pride and joy's 20th year in the biz and if you believe what he's saying there are more bank account-draining collabs dropping – maybe even after you finish reading this. But let's not get ahead of ourselves now because on May 19 comes one of Clot's biggest sneaker drops in recent times. How do we know this? History (and sneaker resale sites) indicate that its silk-wrapped sneaker drops with Nike are fire and command high sums from the right buyer. Chen knows this. So does Japanese streetwear god, Fragment Design's Hiroshi Fujiwara, who considers the silk-wrapped Air Force 1 from 2018 one of this fave compositions from Clot in the last two decades. Now, Chen and Fujiwara are putting their creative minds together for this three-way venture, rendering the Dunk with an all-white silk upper patterned with the iconic Silk Royale. The tongue, laces, lace stay are forged in a contrasting colourway while the heel tabs are embellished with Clot and Fragment Design's branding. Owners can also discover a removable layer on the upper, a tearaway concept that started with the AF1 1World sneaker with Nike that featured a secret black leather layer under the red silk to allow for further customisation. Sales will be safely guarded for this release on May 19 as Clot will be raffling the winners who will be given a chance to own a pair. Download the Juice App for raffling details which will take place on May 16. You're welcome.
