You only live once, might as well dance like nobody’s watching. And if it just so happens that all eyes are on you, it's an even better excuse to let loose and bust your best moves. Take a couple pointers from Viktoria Modesta, the world’s first bionic pop artist and performer, who knows a thing or two about embracing her unapologetic self in front of a crowd. She's even challenged the possibilities of physical expression in zero gravity and as an avatar in the the virtual plane. So, what’s her secret to digital and real life domination? A show-stopping pair of heels, it seems, by none other than the one and only Christian Louboutin. Lucky for us, we got to see Modesta’s love affair with the iconic red-lacquered soles first hand in celebration of the French footwear label’s summer 2024 collection. Surrounded by immersive screens depicting virtual bodies in motion, a dance choreographed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui had Modesta twirling in a custom prosthetic with Louboutin’s signature spikes and shoes glitzed out with crystal strass. Awe was immediately felt from this harmony of art, technology and human capabilities - a sense of magic that soon trickled down to first reactions of Louboutin’s seasonal offerings of footwear and handbags for women. Hallmark brand codes such as, the punk spikes and rhinestones seen glistening on Modesta, added oomph to flashy open-toed sandals and ankle boots, respectively. Those fawning for the balletcore trend will immediately plié to the collection’s bedazzled flats and metallic sandals with crossover straps. Don’t worry if salsa or voguing is more up your alley, we’re sure the tactile puffs of fringe seen on the brand’s signature stilettos will give you the added drama that you’re looking for. When it comes to the famed Pigalle pumps, Louboutin took another extravagant turn, presenting a bubblegum pink colourway with flouncy bows for those still looking to feed their Barbie Dreamhouse fantasies. The theatrical collection was also not without direct calls to the warmer seasons. Vibrant baby blue and purple variations of Louboutin’s unmissable pointed toe shoe silhouette embraced an opulent botanical heel. To match, the season’s range of Loubi54 bags also had this joyful summer vibe. On the odd chance that the cross-body in a sunflower yellow feels too subdued, a technicolour version blends the characteristic CL monogram into a delicate bushel of printed florals splashed with rhinestones. One try on of the statement bag and you're sure to feel the necessary spring in your step to take on any dance floor all day everyday.
