Not a word of goodbye even after nearly 20 years of making some of the coolest sneakers with the Swoosh. Over the summer, Clot's Edison Chen packed all of his best ideas and decamped to heated rival Adidas' camp in what might be one of the most refreshing moves for his Hong Kong-born fashion and lifestyle brand (and probably even more so for Adidas in getting an old flame back). Having developed his rep in the hype sneaker game for decades, Chen now gets to call the shots in ways that he probably didn't necessarily get at Nike. He said, “My whole aesthetic, especially in the past few years, has fully transformed. I haven't had the chance to create through that lens yet, which is why this collaboration is exciting and nerve-wrecking for me because we're heading in that direction... I'm coming in with a new inspiration... ” And just as we got this official announcement of the move, Clot hasn't wasted any time to drop the first sneaker with the Three Stripes – sort of a palate cleanser, if you will. Roping in Neighbourhood, Chen's take on the Superstar is marked by a sharp, jagged cream sole – one that is perfect for stomping a mudhole in someone's you-know-where if you know what we mean (and good for the slippery sidewalks of winter season). What you probably know about the beloved Superstar has also been tweaked including the toe box that now features plush black suede as well as a dissected and distressed portion of the ol' toe cap pattern. This Superstar is also thoughtfully lighter in construction, a layer of black mesh informs the upper while the three stripes are now represented by a zig-zag stitching. Both Neighbourhood's and Clot's logos also feature on parts of the heel and tongue just in case you need an affirmation that this isn't a bootleg. The Clot Neighbourhood Adidas Superstar by Edison Chen will be retailing on October 14 at Juice locations worldwide as well as its online shopping portal.
